How hard can sales be?
Good morning!“We believe that we will win.” There’s a lot of information available about sales. I call it the sales info-verse.It’s everywhere. And, I’m a big consumer.I read approximately 40 sales books a year. I read multiple sales articles every day. I listen to some sales podcasts. I watch videos about sales on LinkedIn and elsewhere. One question always pops into my head when I finish scanning the sales info-verse.
How can selling be so hard if so many people supposedly are experts at it?
I’ll save my answer to that for another time. However, there are indeed plenty of smart people publishing compelling, insightful content about sales. So, maybe the question to ask yourself is: Why is selling still so hard if there are so many experts with good advice to learn from?
I fear the answer might be this:
"These are dangerous times. Never have so many people had access to so much knowledge, and yet been so resistant to learning anything.” - Tom Nichols, The Death of Expertise
Unfortunately, it's also probably this:
“A user of the social news and discussion site Reddit recently posted the following question: 'If someone from the 1950s suddenly appeared today, what would be the most difficult thing to explain to them about today?'" The most popular answer?“I possess a device, in my pocket, that is capable of accessing the entirety of information known to man. I use it to look at pictures of cats and get into arguments with strangers.” - Ian Leslie, Curious: The Desire To Know And Why Your Future Depends On It- AndyP.S.
